  • Do Solar Panels Really Hurt Crops? What New Research Says About Agrivoltaics

New research from the University of Hohenheim suggests that crops may be more adaptable to partial shade than previously thought. The results showed that all five crops changed how they use light under shaded conditions. In particular, their dark respiration and light compensation point decreased. In simple terms, the plants needed less light to maintain photosynthesis and lost less CO₂ through respiration. This shows that crops can adjust to lower light conditions instead of simply being affected by less sunlight.
